Amazon Web Services has unveiled "Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments," a new feature set enabling AI agents to instantly pay for web content, APIs, MCP servers, and other agents using USDC stablecoins — built in direct partnership with Coinbase and Stripe, who are providing the wallet infrastructure and payment rails.
Coinbase confirmed developers can now build "agentic payment solutions" via the x402 protocol, allowing AI agents to execute micropayments as small as fractions of a cent. Stripe-backed blockchain Tempo has also released the Machine Payments Protocol, a parallel open HTTP-native standard for agent-to-agent transactions. Both AWS and Coinbase are members of the x402 Foundation, which governs the protocol as an open, neutral standard.
