Pyth Network Oracle Goes Down for 4+ Hours, Threatening DeFi Liquidations and Lending Ops!

Pyth Network confirmed an outage affecting Pythnet and its Hermes infrastructure on Friday, taking down core price feeds and sponsored feeds for more than four hours. Validators are coordinating a restart after the team identified the root cause, though no timeline for full restoration was given at the time of reporting.

The disruption carries real downstream risk: DeFi protocols that depend on Pyth oracle data for real-time pricing — including lending markets, perpetual DEXs, and automated liquidation engines — are exposed to stale or missing price feeds during the outage window. Protocols running without a fallback oracle are effectively flying blind on collateral valuations.

Pyth is one of the most widely integrated oracle networks across Solana and EVM chains, making a multi-hour core feed outage a sector-wide event rather than an isolated infrastructure hiccup.
