Aave V4 Adds Seven Tokenized Stocks as USDC Loan Collateral

The launch connects traditional equities to onchain credit, with access limited to eligible non-U.S. users and borrowing constrained by asset-specific risk limits.

Aave V4 on Base now accepts Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks tracking Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla as collateral for USDC loans. The Equities Hub is available to eligible users outside the U.S. in permitted jurisdictions, with the stocks restricted to collateral use at launch.

The market opens with an approximately $29 million collateral cap across the seven equities, a $32 million USDC supply cap and a $21 million USDC borrow cap. Collateral factors range from 65% to 79% by stock. Chainlink provides onchain pricing through its tokenized equity feeds.

Why it matters

The launch gives tokenized equities a role beyond holding or trading: eligible users can deposit them and borrow against them in DeFi. Aave founder and CEO Stani Kulechov has described tokenization’s challenge as go-to-market rather than technology, and said institutional participation could bring demand for onchain borrowing.

Aave’s Hub and Spoke design groups the equity collateral in one market with a single USDC reserve, while setting risk parameters for each stock and isolating issues affecting one equity from the others. The market operates around the clock.

Market impact

The initial caps and collateral factors set the scale and borrowing limits for the launch. The stocks are collateral-only for now; adding more Coinbase tokenized stocks or making GHO borrowable would require governance and risk review.

Aave says it has processed $3.6 trillion in cumulative deposits and more than $1 trillion in all-time loans. The Equities Hub extends that lending infrastructure to tokenized exposure to seven major U.S. companies.
