U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $148.7 million in net outflows on Wednesday, ending a nine-day run that brought in $3.1 billion, according to data compiled by The Block. Fidelity's FBTC accounted for $125.6 million of the day's exits, followed by Bitwise's BITB at $13.6 million. BlackRock's IBIT lost $9.5 million, ending its own nine-day, $1.6 billion inflow streak; the remaining funds reported zero flows.
Why it matters
The reversal interrupts one of the Bitcoin funds' strongest inflow runs this year. That run had pushed their cumulative flows back into positive territory for 2026. The funds still hold more than $100 billion in assets and have attracted over $57 billion in net inflows since their January 2024 debut, including $970 million year-to-date.
The longer-term flow record remains below its peak. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart said the funds were about $5 billion short of the cumulative high reached on Oct. 10 last year. Separately, Morgan Stanley's MSBT fund topped 10,000 BTC in assets under management last week.
Market impact
Ethereum funds also turned lower. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs posted $59.6 million in net outflows on Wednesday, led by $26.6 million from Fidelity's FETH. It was their second consecutive outflow day after a seven-day, $850 million inflow streak.
Bitcoin swung around $84,000 on Wednesday as a softer-than-expected reading of core PCE inflation eased expectations for an October Federal Reserve rate hike. BTC had gained 6.4% in September and was trading near $83,950 on Thursday. The next test for ETF flows is whether Wednesday's withdrawals remain a single-day reversal or continue.
