Blockchain.com has launched options trading for eligible users on Bitcoin, Ether, SOL, HYPE, AVAX, XRP and TRX. Contracts expire in up to one week, are funded upfront in USDC, and limit the buyer's maximum potential loss to the purchase amount. The minimum premium is $5, excluding applicable fees.
Users choose a target price, expiry date and trade amount, after which Blockchain.com translates the view into a call or put option. The contracts must be held until expiry and cannot be sold or closed early. Availability is limited to supported jurisdictions.
Why it matters
The launch gives eligible customers a simpler way to express directional views across several major crypto assets without exposing more than the upfront premium. Taro Ugen, Blockchain.com's VP of Consumer, said the product is designed around where traders think the market is going, when they expect it to get there and how much they are willing to risk.
The options rollout also fits a broader derivatives push. Earlier this month, Blockchain.com applied for US regulatory licenses covering prediction markets and crypto derivatives. The company already offers prediction markets through Polymarket and perpetual futures through Hyperliquid to some international users.
Market impact
The product expands Blockchain.com's trading lineup beyond spot exposure and gives users access to short-dated calls and puts across BTC, ETH, SOL and other listed assets. The fixed upfront premium defines the maximum loss, but the inability to exit before expiry makes contract selection and timing central to the trade.
