The rollout brings automated trades and leveraged crypto bets to eligible U.S. customers, while raising questions about account controls and the risks of agents crowding into similar trades.

Robinhood is bringing AI-powered trading agents and crypto perpetual futures to its app, targeting active traders with tools that can act around the clock. The agents can research markets, build strategies and place trades within customer-set limits. Perps will offer up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and Ether, and up to 3x on SOL, XRP, DOGE, ADA, LINK and HYPE.

Why it matters

Robinhood Agents will let customers choose an AI model, create a separate account for the agent and set its limits. Trades require customer approval by default, though users can turn that off. A coming feature called Loops will let agents repeat strategies on a schedule, including overnight. The products are still rolling out to eligible U.S. customers.

The move brings automated trading, long associated with hedge funds and quant firms, to a retail investing app. Robinhood says more than 150,000 customers opened agentic trading accounts after its earlier launch, and agents now use its tools almost 30 million times a day.

Market impact

The perps will be offered through Bitstamp, which Robinhood acquired last year. The company says it will charge 0.01% per trade through the end of the year. Perpetual futures do not expire and let traders take leveraged positions in either direction. At 10x leverage, a 10% move against a position can wipe it out.

The launches add convenience and trading capacity, but also expose users to leverage risk and automated execution. If many agents using similar models and data make the same trades at once, their activity could amplify a market move. Robinhood says both products are aimed at active traders; availability remains limited to eligible U.S. customers as rollout continues.
