The gap is central to the XRP adoption case. Ripple introduced its XRPL AI Starter Kit on June 9 to let software agents use x402 payments for API calls, AI inference and other digital services. Agents can pay in XRP or RLUSD, Ripple's dollar stablecoin, so frequent fractional transfers can demonstrate real service usage without creating comparable demand to buy and hold XRP. A payment settled in RLUSD is not the same as a purchase of XRP.
