Anthropic launches Claude Opus 4.8 with 2.5× fast mode!

Anthropic has released Claude Opus 4.8, an incremental but meaningful upgrade over Opus 4.7 that brings benchmark improvements and what the company describes as a more effective collaboration experience — available immediately at the same price point as its predecessor.

The release comes bundled with several new capabilities. Users on Claude AI now have direct control over how much effort the model applies to a given task, a feature that lets developers and power users tune the compute-to-cost tradeoff in real time. Claude Code gains a new dynamic workflows feature designed to handle very large-scale, multi-step problems that would previously have required manual orchestration.
