No anomaly appeared on major exchanges tracked by CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap, where bitcoin traded just over $79,000 during Asian afternoon hours.

Revolut had not responded to a request for comment by publication time. Unverified user claims that buy orders were filled at the aberrant prices remain unconfirmed.
