CoinMarketCap’s 15:00 UTC snapshot on 17 Oct shows a quiet top-10 boundary but a sharper split below it: stablecoins and DeFi-linked assets gained rank while L1 and infrastructure tokens weakened, led by CAKE’s six-place climb.
The sector rotation
No token entered or exited the top 100, and the top 10 kept the same composition and order. Within the broader list, PancakeSwap (CAKE) climbed from 80 to 74 on a 3.5% 24h gain. Stablecoins also edged higher: DAI moved 23 to 21 while USDD advanced 49 to 47, both with prices effectively unchanged.
| Token | Rank | Change | 24h |
|---|---|---|---|
CAKE PancakeSwap |
#74 | ▲ 6 | ▲ 3.5% |
DAI Dai |
#21 | ▲ 2 | 0.0% |
USDD |
#47 | ▲ 2 | 0.0% |
STX Stacks |
#80 | ▼ 4 | ▼ 10.2% |
STRK Starknet |
#88 | ▼ 2 | ▼ 10.3% |
The weaker side was concentrated in L1 and infrastructure exposure. Stacks (STX) fell four ranks, while Starknet (STRK) dropped two. Kaspa and Sei each lost two ranks, and MemeCore slipped three as the mid-cap field rotated toward relative strength in DeFi, exchange-linked assets and stablecoins.
Boundary check
The unchanged top 10 keeps the move contained to internal sector rotation rather than a broad reshuffle.
