JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has drawn a hard line against the Crypto Clarity Act, publicly vowing to fight the legislation even as it advances through the Senate. Speaking at the 2026 Reagan National Economic Forum, Dimon said the bill would allow stablecoins to effectively pay interest on deposits without adequate consumer protections, and that it falls short on anti-money-laundering safeguards. "The banks will not accept it that way," he said, adding that the ABA, small banks, and credit unions share his opposition.
The bill passed out of the Senate Banking Committee roughly ten days ago and now heads to a full Senate floor vote, expected in the June–July 2026 window. Senate Banking and Agricultural Committee negotiators must first reconcile their versions into a single unified text before that vote can proceed.
