Kinetic's FXRP market on Flare showed roughly $24 million supplied and $2 million borrowed in its Nov. 1 observation, while the base lender APR was about 0.04%. The market page displayed a 0.59% supply APY, including a separately listed 0.55% rFLR reward component. FXRP utilization was 6.7%, far below USDT0's 92.8%.

Why it matters

The supplied balance measures the market's size, not the income lenders earn from borrowers. In this snapshot, incentives made up most of the quoted yield, while the base rate reflected the low level of borrower demand for FXRP itself. Kinetic's lending model also lets suppliers enable assets as collateral to borrow other tokens, so a holder may value access to credit even when the supplied asset generates little interest.

That collateral utility is separate from cash returns. The aggregate USDT0 debt figure does not establish that FXRP was used as its collateral; account-level data would be needed to attribute the borrowing. Native XRP and FXRP are also distinct: FXRP is an XRP-linked representation on Flare, created through the FAssets system.

Market impact

FlareSignal's snapshot put FXRP supply at about 19.45 million and borrowing at 1.31 million FXRP. By comparison, USDT0 had about 5.04 million supplied and 4.68 million borrowed. Those figures reinforce the utilization gap, but do not by themselves identify which collateral supported USDT0 loans.

Other yield displays use different measures. DefiLlama listed a 0.57% supply APY for the isoFXRP pool as a 30-day average, with a 0.04% base component and a +0.54% WFLR reward component. The different windows and rounding limit direct comparison. For FXRP lenders, sustained borrower demand and the interest it generates are the key tests of whether income can stand on a firmer base than rewards.

Frequently asked questions

  1. What made Kinetic's displayed FXRP supply APY higher than its base rate?

The Nov. 1 market display showed a 0.04% base APR and a separate 0.55% rFLR reward component, alongside a 0.59% supply APY.

  2. How did FXRP utilization compare with USDT0 in the snapshot?

FXRP utilization was 6.7%, compared with 92.8% for USDT0.

  3. Does the USDT0 borrowing figure show that FXRP was used as collateral?

No. The aggregate debt figure does not identify its collateral. Account-level data would be needed to attribute USDT0 borrowing to FXRP.

  4. How can supplying FXRP benefit a borrower even when its base interest is low?

Kinetic documentation describes suppliers enabling assets as collateral to borrow other tokens. That access to credit is a separate benefit from cash interest earned on the supplied asset.

  5. How is FXRP different from native XRP?

XRP is the XRP Ledger's native asset. FXRP is an XRP-linked representation on Flare created through the FAssets system.
