NEAR Protocol posted a 112.3% gain in May, with the token reaching $2.89 as the market priced in the upcoming Dynamic Resharding upgrade. The feature, slated to launch in June 2026, will introduce automatic network scaling — a foundational change for a chain increasingly positioning itself as the infrastructure layer for AI agents and NEAR Intents.
The rally wasn't isolated to NEAR itself. The broader ecosystem saw outsized moves, with SWEAT leading the pack at +538.2%, followed by RHEA at +141.6%. AURORA and RBC rounded out the top five with gains of 16.6% and 9.09% respectively.
Dynamic Resharding is designed to let the network expand shard count on the fly as demand grows, removing the manual bottleneck that has historically constrained throughput.
