SharpLink, the second-largest Ethereum treasury company, has been confirmed for inclusion in the Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 indexes, effective June 29 following the indexes' semiannual reconstitution. CEO Joseph Chalom credited the move to the company's "institutional-grade ETH treasury strategy," saying the inclusion is expected to widen its shareholder base and strengthen its capital markets profile.
The development signals that index committees are increasingly comfortable treating crypto-native treasury positions as legitimate institutional balance sheet assets — not speculative side bets. Russell inclusion brings passive fund exposure by default, meaning ETH-backed equity is now on a path into index-tracking portfolios that never made an active decision to own it.
