Solana Foundation and Google Cloud have partnered to launch a payment gateway built specifically for AI agents, letting them access and pay for APIs via Solana wallets using stablecoins on a pay-per-call basis. No accounts, no subscriptions — agents authenticate and settle in a single on-chain step.

The system plugs directly into Google Cloud's own stack — Gemini, BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Cloud Run — alongside 50+ third-party APIs, all surfaced through a unified API marketplace. Agents can mix and match services in a single session, paying only for what they consume.

For the on-chain AI agent ecosystem, this is a meaningful infrastructure unlock: a tier-one cloud provider and a leading L1 have jointly committed to the pay-per-use, agent-native payment model that projects like HGPT have been building toward in the discovery and orchestration layer.
