Solana Overtakes Ethereum in New Developer Signups as Builder Share Hits 23%!

Solana now commands 23% of the global blockchain developer market share — up from just 6% in 2020 — after attracting 4,100 new developers in 2025 versus Ethereum's 3,700, according to a new Syndica report tracking builder distribution across blockchain networks. Ethereum's share has fallen to 31%, its lowest since 2022, down from an 82% baseline just six years ago.

The structural gap is widening across every segment. Solana leads hobbyist developers 28% to 24%, professional developers have moved from 5% to 20%, and among non-EVM chains, Solana accounts for 60% of all weekly active developers — more than the next five competing chains combined. By its fifth year, Solana's cumulative developer count exceeded Ethereum's fifth-year count by roughly 50%.
