Strive Adds 2,822 BTC as Corporate Buying Remains Concentrated

River’s figures show a wider roster of Bitcoin-holding companies has not yet translated into a similarly broad source of fresh purchases.

Strive bought 2,822 BTC during Oct. 12-13 at an average price of about $83,266 per coin, according to its Oct. 14 filing. The purchase came as River’s Oct. 5 snapshot showed Strategy and Strive together added 197,000 BTC in 2026, exceeding the 193,000 BTC net increase River reported for businesses overall.

The figures point to concentrated accumulation even as corporate ownership spreads. River reported a 10% increase over the past year in the number of public companies holding Bitcoin, but a larger holder count does not by itself show that new buying is broadly distributed.

Why it matters

River’s category figures show conventional businesses added about 20,000 BTC and other Bitcoin treasury companies about 8,000 BTC through Oct. 5, while large miners sold 32,800 BTC. The totals are rounded, and the categories reflect both additions and reductions. They do not provide a precise measure of market selling by every other business.

Company transactions also complicate comparisons. Strive’s acquisition of Semler Scientific included 5,048.1 BTC already held by Semler. Those coins enlarged Strive’s consolidated treasury but were not another purchase from the market. River’s report does not explain how it treated the merger, so its totals do not support a precise merger-adjusted share of fresh buying.

Market impact

Strive also reported expected gross proceeds of $369.2 million from warrant exercises for Oct. 12-13. That disclosure does not establish that all proceeds settled or funded the Bitcoin purchase. Its earlier Oct. 5-9 filing reported a separate purchase of 3,311 BTC and holdings of 32,773 BTC as of Oct. 9.

Strategy bought 250 BTC for $21.5 million during Oct. 5-11, bringing its holdings to 848,250 BTC. It also spent $192.4 million repurchasing STRC preferred shares. The figures show competing capital uses, not that Bitcoin was sold to fund buybacks or that the buyback money would otherwise have gone to Bitcoin. Broader corporate demand would be clearer if completed purchases outside the leading treasury firms grew in weight.
