Uzbekistan launches 10-year tax-free crypto mining zone — zero corporate, property, and land tax for a decade!

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on April 17, 2026, establishing the Besqala Mining Valley in Karakalpakstan — a full special economic zone offering a 10-year waiver on corporate income, property, and land taxes for qualifying crypto mining operators. The zone went live April 20, supervised by the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP), with tax code amendments required within two months of activation.

The energy framework has been deliberately broadened from a prior solar-only mandate: operators can now draw from renewable sources, hydrogen plants, or the grid — though grid electricity carries higher tariffs. The only recurring cost beyond operations is a 1% monthly fee on mining income paid to the zone directorate. All sales proceeds, domestic or foreign, must route through Uzbekistan's banking system.
