White House Adviser: U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Update Coming in 'Next Few Weeks'!

Patrick Witt, executive director of the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, told the Consensus Miami 2026 conference that an announcement on the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve is coming "in the next few weeks" — with details expected on both the size and structure of federal crypto holdings.

Witt pointed to a recent exploit involving U.S. Marshals Service digital-asset accounts — where on-chain investigator ZachXBT alleged a hacker stole more than $60 million in late 2025 from government seizure wallets — as a core justification for centralizing and properly custodying federal holdings. "We've heard stories and confirmed some of them of cold wallets that were being stored in drawers of desks in various agencies," he said.
