XRP Withdrawals Stay Frozen at Bitget Until Oct. 2

The exchange's Oct. 2 reopening schedule lumps XRP into the final phase, while Bitquery traced 27.63M of the stolen 102.98M XRP flowing toward THORChain and swaps into Bitcoin.

Bitget's XRP withdrawal route remained disabled on Sept. 26, with the exchange's post-breach reopening timetable placing XRP in the final phase on Oct. 2 at 08:00 UTC, alongside other tokens, fiat and peer-to-peer services. BTC withdrawals reopen first on Sept. 28, ETH on Sept. 29 and USDT on Sept. 30. The pause stems from the Sept. 24 breach, which Bitget now estimates at about $387.5 million in total value drained, up from $351.6 million after adding Zcash and TRON assets to its accounting.

Why it matters

For XRP holders the freeze cuts both ways: trading and deposits remain open, so positions can still be sold on-platform, but external transfers to outside XRP Ledger addresses are blocked. That leaves customers unable to move coins off the venue while the stolen funds themselves are actively on the move. Bitquery measured 27.63 million XRP leaving two of six tracked attacker accounts by 02:54 UTC on Sept. 26, with 75.35 million still sitting in those wallets.

Bitget says it identified and remedied the vulnerability behind the incident, describing the withdrawal pause as a security measure and stating user balances were unaffected.

Market impact

Bitquery's trace follows much of the outbound XRP through new accounts toward THORChain, where it is being swapped toward Bitcoin, though the analysis cannot establish who controls the final BTC wallets or measure any executed spot sale. With XRP near $1.55 on Sept. 26, the two things to watch are Bitget's XRP withdrawal status as Oct. 2 approaches and further movement from the attacker accounts that still hold 75.35 million tokens.

Frequently asked questions

  1. When will Bitget reopen XRP withdrawals?

XRP is not listed as a separate phase in Bitget's timetable, so it falls into the final phase on Oct. 2 at 08:00 UTC, covering other tokens, fiat and peer-to-peer services. BTC, ETH and USDT reopen earlier, on Sept. 28, 29 and 30 respectively.

  2. How much XRP was stolen from Bitget?

Bitquery's transaction-backed investigation put the XRP taken at about 102.98 million tokens. This is a token-specific count, separate from Bitget's platform-wide breach estimate of roughly $387.5 million across all affected assets.

  3. Where is the stolen XRP going?

Bitquery traced outgoing XRP through new accounts toward THORChain, a cross-chain swap network, where most of the flow it could follow was being swapped toward Bitcoin. The trace does not identify who controls the final Bitcoin wallets.

  4. Can XRP holders still trade on Bitget during the freeze?

Yes. Trading and deposits remain available, so holders can adjust XRP positions on-platform. Only external withdrawals to outside XRP Ledger addresses were disabled as of Sept. 26.

  5. What was the total value of the Bitget hack?

Bitget's Sept. 25 incident update revised the total value transferred to attacker-controlled addresses to about $387.5 million, up from an initial $351.6 million, reflecting additional Zcash and TRON assets rather than new unauthorized transfers.
