AtomOne is a community-driven fork of the Cosmos Hub, built within the Cosmos ecosystem as a modular Layer 1 / Layer 0 blockchain that prioritizes decentralization, constitutional governance, and validator security. Its architecture follows a minimalist Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) hub design intended to function as a neutral coordination layer for the broader interchain network. The protocol operates a dual-token economic model. ATONE serves as the staking and governance token, securing the network through its validator set, while PHOTON functions as a secondary token used to pay transaction and IBC fees. This separation is designed to insulate network security from fee market volatility. Governance is structured around an on-chain constitution enforced by multiple DAOs, including the Steering DAO and Oversight DAO, with the explicit goal of operating without a centralized foundation. AtomOne is also designed to support Interchain Security 1.5 (ICS 1.5), enabling consumer chains to inherit security from its validator set while maintaining sovereignty. The project emphasizes fair token distribution and DAO-managed treasuries, with no allocations to venture capital or foundations.
