BOB ("Build on Bitcoin") is a hybrid layer-2 network designed to bring smart-contract and decentralized finance capabilities to Bitcoin without leaving its security perimeter. The project positions itself as a unified gateway for Bitcoin-based finance, commonly referred to as BTCFi, where users can swap, save, lend and borrow using BTC. Technically, BOB combines zero-knowledge proofs with Bitcoin settlement to secure transactions and operate native rollup bridges to both Bitcoin and Ethereum. This architecture is intended to keep BTC on BOB recognizable as native BTC, supported by work on BitVM-style optimistic execution and the BitVM2 research effort. The platform also functions as a multichain router, allowing Bitcoin to be swapped into other assets or routed into DeFi applications across more than a dozen networks using intent-based execution and cross-chain messaging. BOB additionally offers a vault layer that packages tokenized BTC yield strategies curated and custodied by institutional partners. The BOB token is associated with this broader BOB Network ecosystem spanning the Bitcoin, Ethereum and BNB Chain environments.
