BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol originally created by Bram Cohen, designed to let users transfer large files efficiently across a distributed network. The BitTorrent Token (BTT) is a TRC-10 token issued on the TRON blockchain, extending the protocol with an economic layer that lets participants exchange value for shared resources such as bandwidth, networking, and storage. One of its primary applications is BitTorrent Speed, a feature that allows users to trade BTT in return for faster download performance. Beyond this core utility, BTT operates within a broader ecosystem that spans the TRON network, BNB Chain, and Ethereum, supporting integrations across decentralized storage and decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) initiatives. The token has also been distributed through Binance Launchpad and is part of investment portfolios managed by associated labs. As a result, BTT functions as a coordination and incentive mechanism for resource sharing within the BitTorrent ecosystem, bridging traditional peer-to-peer file distribution with on-chain settlement.
