Illuvium (ILV) is a decentralized gaming franchise built on the Ethereum network, structured as a suite of interconnected titles that combine high-production-value gameplay with verifiable digital asset ownership. The core experience is an open-world fantasy role-playing adventure in which players capture and collect creatures known as Illuvials, each represented as a non-fungible token (NFT). To achieve scalability, the project processes the bulk of its transactions, including NFT minting and trading, on Immutable X, a Layer 2 scaling solution that uses Zero-Knowledge Rollups. This approach bundles transactions off-chain and posts cryptographic proofs back to Ethereum, enabling high throughput and zero gas fees for players while preserving the base layer's security. Players can trade assets on the IlluviDex marketplace without transaction fees, and digital items are designed to be interoperable across multiple games within the franchise. ILV functions as the primary utility and governance token. Holders may stake it to receive a share of the game's revenue, with the protocol directing 100% of generated income back to stakers, and they can vote through a Decentralized Autonomous Organization on development and economic policy. A synthetic version of the token circulates as in-game currency. The project was co-founded by brothers Kieran and Aaron Warwick, with infrastructure partnerships including Immutable X and Chainlink.
