Nuco.cloud (NCDT) is a decentralized computing platform built on the Ethereum ecosystem that enables a sharing economy for network processing power. The project is based on BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing), a framework originally developed at the Space Science Laboratory in 2002 to support scientific research requiring large-scale calculations. Through the nuco.client application, users can contribute the unused processing capacity of their smartphones, computers, or servers and be compensated in the NCDT token. The platform aggregates distributed computing resources into a shared "supercomputer" and allocates them to clients in need of processing power. Payments are settled on-chain, and earned NCDT can be exchanged for other cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies, or used to purchase computing resources on the network. Nuco.cloud is also notable for being the first blockchain project to receive a grant from the German government. Alongside the consumer-oriented service, the project offers Nuco.compute, a professional-tier version aimed at enterprises that require stricter controls, including selection of specific hardware, latency requirements, geographic location, and certified data security, with computations carried out exclusively by high-security professional data centers.
