Chainflip is a decentralized protocol designed to enable cross-chain cryptocurrency swaps without requiring users to surrender custody of their assets. Operating within the Ethereum ecosystem and broader Decentralized Finance (DeFi) landscape, it functions as a generalized cross-chain exchange infrastructure that eliminates the need for wrapped tokens or traditional bridging mechanisms. At its core, the protocol employs a Just-in-Time Automated Market Maker, known as the JIT AMM, which sources liquidity at the moment of each trade to deliver competitive pricing. The system is designed to be chain-agnostic and can integrate with any network supporting standard transaction types. Security and operation of the network are maintained by a set of 150 validators who stake FLIP, the protocol's native utility token, to participate in consensus. Validators are required to hold and stake FLIP, receiving token-based rewards in return, with additional value accrual derived from protocol fees. A distinctive feature of the token's economic design is its built-in deflationary mechanism: every swap executed on the platform triggers automatic buying and burning of FLIP through the liquidity pool system, creating deflationary pressure that scales with trading volume. FLIP also serves as a bridge governance token and has been supported by notable venture firms including Coinbase Ventures, Pantera Capital, Delphi Ventures, and Blockchain Capital.
