GMT is the governance token of STEPN, a Web3 lifestyle application that combines Social-Fi and Game-Fi elements, and operates across multiple blockchain ecosystems including Solana, BNB Chain, Polygon, and Ethereum. It has a fixed supply cap of six billion tokens and functions as the protocol's governance and utility asset. Within the STEPN app, holders use GMT to access higher-tier features such as minting upgraded NFT Sneakers, enhancing high-quality Gems, and casting votes on governance proposals. STEPN itself is built around a dual-token economy in which users with NFT Sneakers earn rewards for moving outdoors, with GMT serving as the long-term governance counterpart to the activity-based earnings token. The application supports a play-and-move-to-earn model with an in-app marketplace for leasing or trading sneaker NFTs and a built-in wallet offering token swaps. The project was developed by Find Satoshi Lab, an Australia-based fintech studio that gained early recognition through the 2021 Solana Ignition Hackathon gaming track.
