Because every trade is routed through H2O, the token serves as the connective medium for swaps, allowing liquidity providers to deposit assets without being matched against a specific counterparty token. The token carries several core utility functions. Transaction fees generated by trading activity on the Omnipool are distributed to liquidity providers in H2O. The token also plays a role in impermanent loss mitigation, with partial compensation for liquidity providers paid out in H2O.
