NIL Nillion Rank #884
Nillion is a privacy-focused computation and storage network, often described as a "Blind Computer," that operates within the Ethereum ecosystem. It leverages Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) to process and store data without exposing its contents, enabling use cases such as private personalized AI, encrypted databases, data marketplaces, and privacy-preserving applications across multiple blockchain and AI infrastructure use cases. NIL is the native utility token of the network. It is used to pay network fees for blind computation and transactions across the Coordination Layer and Petnet, to secure the network through staking, and to participate in on-chain governance. Beyond these core functions, NIL grants access to several Nillion modules and services. The DB module offers an encrypted database in which data is split across multiple nodes while still allowing computations on the encrypted content. The AI module bundles privacy-oriented tools, including a secure AI inference platform co-developed with Meta, a library for running compact AI models, and Trusted Execution Environment support for faster private inference. The VM module provides libraries that let developers build programs using familiar Python and JavaScript tooling.
