Union (UNION) is a zero-knowledge based infrastructure protocol designed to enable secure communication and value transfer across heterogeneous blockchain networks. Positioned within both the BNB Chain and Ethereum ecosystems, it focuses on solving cross-chain interoperability without relying on trusted third parties, oracles, multi-signatures, or multi-party computation schemes. The protocol's primary function is to serve as a general message-passing and asset-transfer layer, supporting use cases that include token transfers, NFT movement, and cross-chain DeFi interactions. Rather than trusting external validators, Union verifies cross-chain activity through consensus verification, anchoring its security model to the underlying chains it connects. Technically, Union combines zero-knowledge cryptography with BLS signatures to adapt the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol — originally developed within the Cosmos ecosystem — for broader use across other networks. This approach allows the protocol to extend IBC-grade interoperability to ecosystems that do not natively support it. By abstracting away the complexity of moving data and assets between chains, Union operates as a chain-abstraction and BTCfi-oriented infrastructure layer aimed at making multi-chain applications more seamless and trust-minimized.
