XDAG XDAG Rank #2778
XDAG is a community-driven distributed ledger that combines a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) structure with a Proof of Work (PoW) consensus mechanism, functioning as a Layer 1 network of its own. Its mainnet went live in January 2018, positioning it among the early DAG-based projects to support mining. Rather than organizing transactions into a linear chain of blocks, XDAG uses a DAG topology, where each new transaction confirms earlier ones, allowing multiple transactions to be processed and validated in parallel. The PoW component requires miners to perform computational work to append and order transactions, lending the same kind of security guarantees found in traditional PoW systems while supporting higher throughput. The project launched without a private placement, initial coin offering, or sponsor, and was developed and maintained by a global community of blockchain enthusiasts. Its token supply is capped at roughly 1.446 billion units, with no pre-mined allocations reserved for insiders. This fair-launch model, combined with its hybrid DAG-plus-PoW architecture, reflects an emphasis on decentralization, open participation, and equitable distribution within the broader Layer 1 ecosystem.
