Strategy and Strive bought about $183 million of Bitcoin last week as the cryptocurrency climbed above $85,000, its highest level since January. Strategy acquired 950 BTC for $75.7 million, while Strive bought 1,355 BTC for $107.7 million. Both purchases came below Monday’s market price.
Why it matters
The buying marks a return of aggressive corporate accumulation after the broader treasury trade slowed sharply. Listed companies added about 5,900 BTC over the past three months, compared with roughly 89,000 BTC accumulated in July 2025 alone.
Glassnode estimated the sector’s average acquisition price at about $80,500. Bitcoin’s move above $85,000 pushed the overall corporate treasury cohort back above that cost basis, reversing the paper losses that had weighed on companies holding the asset.
Market impact
Strategy’s holdings returned to 846,000 BTC, acquired for a total of $63.8 billion at an average cost of $75,416. At $85,000, the holdings would be worth about $71.9 billion, roughly $8.1 billion above their aggregate acquisition cost. The figure does not determine Strategy’s eventual third-quarter accounting gain because fair-value changes and trading activity are recognized as they occur.
Strategy is also managing the financing structure behind its treasury. It repurchased $174 million of STRC preferred stock last week and used $57.4 million for preferred dividends and debt interest. Strive, meanwhile, continues to use preferred equity and warrant proceeds to fund BTC purchases. The latest buying shows both companies accumulating alongside, rather than instead of, capital-management efforts. The next test is whether other corporate buyers return now that Bitcoin has cleared the sector’s estimated cost basis.
