Polygon Adds Solana to Bank-Linked Payments Stack

The integration connects stablecoin transfers to banking rails and payouts as stablecoin supply approaches $290 billion.

Polygon Labs has added Solana to its Open Money Stack, a payments platform that links bank accounts with crypto transfers and payouts. Businesses can use one integration to bring money in from bank accounts, move funds across blockchains and pay recipients. The addition follows Solana's Alpenglow upgrade, which cut transaction finality from about 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds.

Why it matters

Kira is among the first customers using the Solana integration. The company helps clients move between dollars and stablecoins, send payments through banking rails and pay suppliers abroad. CEO Edrizio De La Cruz said Kira already uses Solana for stablecoin transfers and works with Polygon to turn those transfers into dollars in clients' bank accounts when needed.

The stack connects Solana with Polygon, Ethereum and TRON, and can route payments to supported bank accounts, cards, cash services and crypto wallets. Polygon also completed its acquisition of Coinme earlier this month, bringing money transmission licenses and exemptions covering 48 U.S. states.

Market impact

The expansion comes as USD-pegged stablecoin supply approaches $290 billion. Tether's USDT accounts for more than $182 billion, while Circle's USDC is near $76 billion. Solana Foundation Chief Product Officer Vibhu Norby said Solana processed more than $5.5 trillion in stablecoin volume in 2026, and argued that links to banks, wallets and global payout networks can extend access to businesses and customers.

For payments providers, the pitch is a single integration spanning blockchain transfers and familiar payout options. The rollout adds another route for businesses to use Solana stablecoins while settling funds through banking rails.
