Rakuten Wallet lets users convert loyalty points into $XRP — spendable at 5M+ merchants across Japan.

Rakuten Wallet has rolled out a feature allowing its Japanese users to convert Rakuten Points directly into XRP, with the resulting balance spendable across more than five million merchant locations in the country. The integration bridges one of Japan's largest loyalty ecosystems with a major digital asset in a single flow.

For XRP, the move is a meaningful real-world utility signal — loyalty-to-crypto conversion puts the token in the hands of everyday consumers rather than just traders. Japan has long been one of the more crypto-forward retail markets, and Rakuten's scale gives this adoption a reach that most pilot programmes cannot match.
