LayerZero loses $2B TVL to Chainlink CCIP after exploit
Three protocols with $2.3B combined just walked — the first measurable TVL migration since LayerZero admitted a Lazarus-linked RPC exploit and a 1/1 DVN misconfiguration.
Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that bridges smart contracts with off-chain data, events, and traditional systems. Because blockchains cannot natively access external information, Chainlink provides a secure middleware layer that allows on-chain applications to react to real-world inputs through verified, tamper-resistant data delivery. It is widely regarded as the first decentralized oracle network and remains the dominant infrastructure provider in this category, having been co-founded in 2017 by Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis. The platform runs a distributed network of independent node operators that fetch, validate, and aggregate external data before reaching consensus and returning a single result to requesting contracts. Beyond its core Data Feeds for asset prices, Chainlink has expanded into a broader service suite, including the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol for messaging and token transfers across networks, Automation for executing smart contract functions, and Proof of Reserve for verifying asset collateralization. Its institutional offerings also encompass the Chainlink Runtime Environment, Confidential Compute, and an Automated Compliance Engine, supported by partnerships with major financial institutions. LINK is the network's native utility token. It is used to pay node operators for their services, fund subscription accounts, and secure the network through staking, with staked LINK subject to slashing for unreliable performance.

The real story isn't the bounce — it's the rotation. With $BTC pinned above $80K and Atkins floating onchain rules, capital is spreading from majors into infrastructure and tokenization plays.
The migration comes weeks after the $292M Kelp DAO exploit drained 116,500 rsETH through a single-verifier LayerZero setup — a systemic-risk signal every cross-chain bitcoin bridge has to read.
A $292M LayerZero exploit in April forced the Kelp DAO bridge off LayerZero; Solv Protocol's voluntary $700M migration pushes the combined flight past $2B in protocol value, framing CCIP as the…

The supply transfer is the largest of the cycle so far — long-term holders, Strategy, and US spot ETFs are all accumulating while new buyers capitulate, and ETF inflows are running 9x new-mine supply.
Chainlink is the industry-standard decentralized oracle network that solves the "oracle problem" by connecting smart contracts with real-world data.
