XRP Ledger 3.3.0 puts five amendments up for validator vote

The XRP Ledger's upcoming xrpld 3.3.0 release will put five amendments in front of validators next week, including revised versions of Batch and Permission Delegation, two features previously pulled from the network after security researchers found flaws serious enough to warrant emergency action. Jazzi Cooper, head of product at RippleX, confirmed the release window on Friday.

Batch lets up to eight cross-account transactions execute atomically, either all settling or none. It reached the voting phase in February before researchers Pranamya Keshkamat and Cantina found a signature-validation flaw that could have let an attacker execute transactions from any account without holding its keys. Validators were advised to reject the amendment and an emergency server release marked it unsupported. Permission Delegation, disclosed as vulnerable in September 2025, had a bug that let one account charge transaction fees to another and potentially drain its balance. Neither amendment ever reached the main network and no funds were lost.

The three new amendments target institutional use cases. Confidential MPT combines zero-knowledge proofs with elliptic-curve encryption so Multi-Purpose Token balances and transfer amounts stay private while remaining auditable for regulators. Sponsored Fees and Reserves lets a bank or platform cover another account's XRP costs, removing the need for users to acquire XRP before transacting. Dynamic MPT lets issuers specify which token properties can be changed later, avoiding a full token migration when fees or metadata need updating.

Why it matters

Approval is not automatic. Each amendment needs 80% validator support sustained for two consecutive weeks. Batch already has a record of being voted down, and the lending protocol and single-asset vault amendments have each drawn only roughly a third of validator support. The two returning features therefore face a credibility test: the network is being asked to trust revised code where the originals failed a security review.

Frequently asked questions

  1. What is in the XRP Ledger xrpld 3.3.0 release?

The release carries five proposed amendments: revised versions of Batch and Permission Delegation, plus new Confidential MPT, Sponsored Fees and Reserves, and Dynamic MPT features. Each needs 80% validator support for two consecutive weeks to activate.

  2. Why were Batch and Permission Delegation pulled before?

Batch was pulled in February after researchers found a signature-validation flaw that could have let attackers execute transactions from any account without its keys. Permission Delegation was disabled in September 2025 after a bug let one account charge fees to another and drain its balance. Neither ever reached…

  3. What does Confidential MPT do on XRPL?

Confidential MPT combines zero-knowledge proofs with elliptic-curve encryption so Multi-Purpose Token balances and transfer amounts stay private. Auditors and regulators can still verify the underlying data when required.

  4. How does Sponsored Fees and Reserves help institutional users?

It lets a bank or platform cover another account's XRP transaction fees and reserve requirement, removing the need for every user to acquire XRP before transacting on the ledger.

  5. What is the activation threshold for XRPL amendments?

Each amendment needs at least 80% of trusted validators to back it for two consecutive weeks. The threshold is designed so the network rather than Ripple decides which protocol changes ship.
