Strive buys 3,311 BTC for $280M

Strive’s purchase widens its lead over public-company bitcoin buyers, while its preferred-stock and capital-markets programs keep funding the treasury strategy.

Strive added 3,311 BTC for $280 million over the past week, lifting its bitcoin treasury to 32,773 BTC as of Oct. 9, according to an 8-K filing. The Vivek Ramaswamy-founded company said the purchase was its largest increase since acquiring about 5,048 BTC through the Semler Scientific merger in January.

Why it matters

The purchase keeps Strive among the five largest public-company bitcoin holders. Strategy leads the group with 848,250 BTC, followed by Metaplanet with 44,000 BTC, Tether-backed Twenty One with 43,514 BTC, and MARA with 35,577 BTC, based on Bitcoin Treasuries data.

Strive CEO Matt Cole has said the company aims to become the world’s second-largest public bitcoin holder by the end of 2026. Strive remains 11,227 BTC, or $937.5 million, behind Metaplanet. Reaching that target would require adding about 990 BTC per week if Metaplanet makes no further purchases.

Market impact

The latest acquisition highlights how Strive is using capital markets activity to build its BTC treasury. Since going public in September 2025, the company has accumulated 5,886 BTC through initial PIPE proceeds, exchange activity, at-the-market programs, and follow-on offerings.

Strive’s cash and cash equivalents also rose to $310.3 million from $284.7 million over the past week. Class A shares outstanding increased by about 9.5 million, while SATA preferred shares outstanding rose by 532,094. The company also holds 505,000 shares of Strategy’s STRC preferred stock. SATA is positioned as a bitcoin-backed, high-yield instrument and currently carries a 13% annualized dividend rate paid daily. Michael Saylor said Strive’s latest purchase was more than 13 times Strategy’s 250 BTC acquisition last week.
