The 500K HYPE stake is steep on purpose: it filters for operators who can run markets like a business, while Hyperliquid's validator set retains the template rules everyone must follow.
The stake-and-slash model borrows the validator-template pattern from HIP-3 and applies it to a market category Hyperliquid itself frames as larger than spot and perps combined.
The upgrade shifts template approval to existing validators, turning outcome-market deployment into a permissionless primitive rather than a core-team-gated feature.
HIP-3* lets a single builder gate its own perpetuals venue while the rest of Hyperliquid stays permissionless, a structural onramp for firms with KYC or jurisdictional constraints.
The redesign replaces a 2019 foundation with unified market infrastructure, while audited canary markets will precede the planned switchover.
The 500,000-HYPE stake-to-deploy model puts Hyperliquid on a direct collision course with Polymarket and Kalshi, while giving HYPE holders another demand sink tied to platform activity.
Aptos shipped its mainnet, but daily activity is still a fraction of Solana's. Here is what actually lives on the chain, who uses it, and where the risks sit.

Pi launched in 2019 as a phone-based mining app, sat in closed beta for six years, then opened Mainnet to migrants in early 2024. The token now trades on a handful of exchanges, but structural concerns remain.
Virtuals Protocol is a Base-based launchpad where anyone can spin up an AI agent token. Most launchpad tokens go to zero — and the structure explains why.
